With it being Winter and all… it’s time to dream big garden dreams!
This year, we are pairing with my friend to buy seeds. Because let’s face it, nobody needs 100 zucchini plants. So today is perusing the interwebz looking for the perfect combination of seeds. So far we have enough to plant a couple small farms, because we both have the same seed-buying affliction: our eyes are bigger than our gardens.
And speaking of gardens… I want a herb garden. A huge fancy one like this:
But I don’t know where to put it, and I know I can’t take care of it. So I’m going to have to scale back a bit. But having an herb garden is going on the list this year. Last year we had a row garden (read my thoughts here), and it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. It wasn’t the prettiest, but it made sense. This year, I’m going to offer up a compromise: half potager, half row. Or I’ll just have my little herb garden be the pretty garden and leave the row garden alone.
So what’s going in the garden? I’ll have a final list once seeds are ordered, but so far:
- Tomato (various)
- Butternut Squash
- Spaghetti Squash
- Crookneck Squash
- Bell Peppers
- Hot Peppers
- Sugar Snap Peas
- Lettuce (various)
- Collard Greens
- Mustard Greens
- Pole Beans
- Brussels Sprouts
And that does not include herbs:
- Basil (various)
- Mint (already growing in abundance)
And I’m sure I’ll think of more… and add more… and oh my goodness, Spring will be crazy!
